Terms of participation and data
Participation
The AE WARDOGS League is a community league run by AE Gaming. Taking part is free and voluntary. You can leave a forming team, leave the pool, or ask for your account to be removed at any time; the rulebook sets out what happens to a roster or a fixture when you do. By signing in through Steam you agree to the rulebook and to this page.
What we store
- Your SteamID64, and the persona name and avatar from your public Steam profile, refreshed when you sign in.
- Your Discord id and display name, only if you link Discord on your account page.
- Match statistics from the league servers you play on: kills, deaths, headshots, weapons, distances, minutes present, positions at the time of a kill, which side you were on, and the referee's enforcement log for the match.
- Check-ins, the notes you attach to them, black marks and the standing computed from them.
- Career totals mirrored from the AE 50/50 servers: kills, deaths, hours, matches, best match and which servers you were seen on.
- Team membership, requests you sent or received, notices, and anything you type into a form on this site (team name, tag, note for captains, Discord link).
- IP addresses in the security log for 30 days, for abuse and intrusion tracing only.
Why we store it
Three reasons and no others: running the league (rosters, fixtures, results, ratings, notices), anti-cheat (the server feed and career record are what a review is based on), and standing (check-ins and marks are how the league knows who turns up). We do not sell data, share it for advertising, or use it to profile you outside the game.
Who sees it
- Public: your persona and avatar, your team, your match and career statistics, your rating, your standing and your black marks. These are the league; they are on the site and in its public API.
- Admins: your SteamID, your Discord id, your check-in notes, and the audit log of actions taken on your account.
- Nobody else. Other players see what the public sees.
Retention and deletion
Season data is kept as the league's history: fixtures, results, statistics and the tables stay online so the record means something. To have your account removed, message an admin on the AE Gaming Discord from the Discord you linked, or from a Discord that can prove ownership of the Steam account. We then remove your persona, avatar and Discord link and anonymise your statistics: the numbers stay in the match records so the results and the other players' stats still add up, but they are no longer attached to a name or a SteamID. Black marks are anonymised with the rest. Security logs expire on their own after 30 days.
Cookies
Two cookies, both ours: one signed session cookie that keeps you signed in, and one short-lived flash cookie that carries a message from one page to the next after a form. No analytics, no trackers, no advertising cookies, and no third-party cookies set by this site.
Third parties
- Steam handles sign-in. Steam tells us your SteamID and public profile; we never see your Steam password.
- Discord, if you link it, receives the notices the league sends you and your Discord id is stored here.
- YouTube embeds on the media page load from YouTube when you open that page, under YouTube's own terms.
Servers and RCON control
The referee is software that controls the league servers over the game's admin interface. During a league match it sets the password, places players on their side, reverses side switches, removes people who are not rostered or in the pool, and ends the match at the cap. It does this on league servers, during league matches, only. It does not act on the public AE servers and it does not act outside the match window.
Changes to the rules and to this page
Changes to the rulebook or to this page are announced in #wd-league on the AE Gaming Discord before they take effect, with the version line at the foot of the rulebook updated to match. A change never applies to a match already played.
Contact
Questions, disputes, appeals and deletion requests go to the admins on the AE Gaming Discord, in #wd-league or by direct message. Team captains can also reach the admins through their team page.
